Privacy Policy

Ecoa is built so that your words never leave your iPhone. There is no server to send them to, no account to create, and no analytics watching what you do. This policy explains that in full — and it is short, because there is very little to explain.
The short version
Ecoa collects no data. Every recording, transcript, summary, task, category, mood check-in, and setting is created and stored only on your device. Nothing is transmitted to us or to any third party. You can confirm this yourself: turn on Airplane Mode and the app works exactly the same.
What Ecoa handles, and where it stays
To do its job, Ecoa works with the audio you record, the transcripts and summaries produced from it, the tasks and reminders it extracts, the categories you assign, and — if you enable Journal mode — your journal entries and optional mood check-ins. All of this is kept in the app’s private storage on your iPhone and nowhere else.
Speech recognition and the intelligence that titles, summarises, categorises, and answers questions about your notes run entirely on-device using Apple’s built-in frameworks. Your content is not sent to Ecoa, to Apple as data collection, or to any external service for processing.
No collection, no tracking, no sharing
- No accounts and no sign-in.
- No analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking of any kind.
- No third-party SDKs. The app contains no networking code.
- We never receive, store, sell, or share your notes — because we never receive them in the first place.
Features you choose to use
Apple Reminders export. If you send a task to Apple Reminders, iOS asks your permission and the reminder is written into your own Reminders on your device. It is handled by Apple, under Apple’s terms, and stays within your Apple account’s own storage.
Encrypted backup. If you create a backup, Ecoa encrypts it with a passphrase you choose and writes it to a folder you pick (for example, a Files or iCloud Drive location). Only someone with your passphrase can open it. We never see the passphrase or the backup.
Notifications. If you allow notifications, task reminders are scheduled locally on your device. No reminder content leaves the phone.
Your control over your data
You can export everything as Markdown and audio at any time, delete individual notes (which also deletes their audio), or erase everything from Settings. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device. Because nothing is stored anywhere else, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
Children’s privacy
Ecoa is rated 4+ and collects no data from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If Ecoa’s data practices ever change, this page will be updated before the change ships, and the date above will change with it.
